Run on Less – The Messy Middle Results: Battery electric trucks can go the distance!
The North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) has once again delivered powerful real-world insights with this year’s Run on Less – The Messy Middle, highlighting the technologies driving the transition to zero-emission freight.
This year showcased how different fuel types perform in everyday operations, with especially noteworthy data from the Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) participating in the run.
There is so much incredible data you can toggle in their dashboard and I highly encourage everyone to check it out. You can see for yourself that, among all the challenges, we are progressing and the technology for all-electric class 8 trucking is here and it will only get better from this moment forward. This is incredibly inspiring and this is the type of data that moves the industry and world forward.

Here are some BEV performance results:
One BEV completed 465 miles on a single charge.
One BEV operated in a slip-seat (dual-shift) configuration, covering 3,676 miles over 18 days, with the truck driving 52% of the time and charging only 13% of the time.
One BEV covered 875 miles in a single day and 5,740 miles over 18 days, using only public charging.
These real-world numbers highlight the growing capabilities of BEVs across various duty cycles and operating models.
NACFE’s Run on Less series continues to provide valuable, verified data to help fleets, manufacturers, and policymakers make informed decisions as the industry navigates the transition toward zero-emission freight.
